About Janette Levey

NJ and NY employment attorney with national reach

I’m Janette Levey of Levey Law, LLC. For over 20 years, I have provided legal advisement and expertise to employers throughout New Jersey. I truly and firmly believe that it is possible, and is in an employer’s best interest, to proactively solve workforce challenges before they become problems—and result in lawsuits or steep fines caused by government audits.

I work with employers like you on many employment law issues to ensure you are in the best position possible to avoid employee relations problems that could lead to litigation, government audits, and the high costs associated with legal matters. In every engagement, I strive to provide you with my trademark cool, calm, and collected demeanor and expert guidance with a personal touch. You’ll have a levelheaded partner to turn to and protect your interests (preferably, before they become big problems!).

I am licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York. I also serve employers nationwide on many federal employment law issues, to help them avoid litigation or costly audits.

Author, speaker, contributor

I author my firm’s weekly blog, sharing insights (in plain English) regarding the issues impacting employers today. Additionally, I have written articles on employment law issues for many publications, including EEO Insight, Staffing Industry Review, @Law, and Chief Legal Officer. I  also contributed a piece titled “Could Your Tried-and-True Hiring Practices Expose You to Employment Litigation?” to the book, “Hiring Greatness: How to Recruit Your Dream Team and Crush the Competition“ (John Wiley and Sons, 2016) by David E. Perry and Mark J. Haluska, which is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

I have spoken and trained on topics such as Criminal Background Checks in the Hiring Process, Joint Employment, Severance Arrangements, and Pre-Employment Screening among many others. In addition, she has been interviewed on the “Stop My Crisis” webcast (April 18  and June 13, 2019) and on The Empowered Whistleblower podcast, discussing trending workplace issues with Dawn Westmoreland.
